Bug Description
I just purchased an HP9025 printer and connected it via wired Ethernet, with a fixed IP address to my network. I was able to "Scan to Network Printer" to a Samba directory on Debian Buster running hplip 3.20.9+
I am now getting the error "Network error. Check the printer's network connection and try again." when trying "Scan to Network Folder". I think it is the firmware that broke it, but I am not certain. The Samba directory requires no password, and Windows laptops are able to access it just fine. The Samba share is called \\momjian.
Is this a known problem? How can I debug this further? I am attaching hp-check -t output.
I ran some tests and found that Scan to Network Folder works if the you use the username/password of an SMB user. Seems this is a bug since there is a printer option to allow no username/password. Interesting, the folder can still be open for other people for public writes, with no username/password --- the printer still requires to log in as a user or it fails. A username with a blank password also fails.
