Bug Description

Hi!

The firmware for my HP LaserJet P1006 is not loaded automatically anymore through the provided udev rules when the printer is switched on.

For some reason at least version 3.20.6 changes the model specification (in `models.dat`) for hp_laserjet_p1006:

`plugin=1` (from 3.20.3) ->
`plugin=0` (at least 3.20.6)

This in turn leads to `hp-config_usb_printer` (which is called in the udev rules) to no upload any firmware.

I am able to work around the automatic uploading by resetting the `plugin` line above to its previous value. Any reason for this change? Is firmware uploaded differently at this point? I did not find any notes about this in the release notes.

Best,
Martin

Hi Martin,

I filed an issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1883898 which has the same problem's origin as yours.

Would you mind mentioning your problem there too? That ticket is connected to Ubuntu Launchpad too, so maybe it will get more upstream attention.

You are right. This seems to be exactly the same issue. Marking this one as a duplicate. I am a bit worried though that the discussion there is about version changes from 2 to 3 of Python which I believe is unrelated to this bug.
