Bug Description

Using hplip-3.20.3 and cups-2.3.1 my Officejet 6700 is found automatically and the test page prints.

Some hp-* commands work, but most do not.

Is there a problem with the hplip and/or cups printer name?

Hi

Did you try adding the printer through "hp-setup" command. If no kindly do it. Besides that what other issues are you facing for printer availability.

Changed in hplip:

I have never previously needed to use the hp-setup command.

The first attempt resulted in an error message stating that /usr/local/share/cups/model could not be found.

After creating an empty directory named /usr/local/share/cups/model, the hp-setup command completed successfully and now hp-info, hp-scan, etc all work.

I'm not sure why hp-install fails if it doesn't find a folder that is not installed by cups, but thanks for the help.

..now if hplip could only fix the +/- 20 hard-coded paths in /usr/local/share/hplip/*py that need adjusting for it to work...
