Bug Description

Distro: Ubuntu 14.10
Printer: HP Deskjet F340 All-in One
HPLIP version: 3.14.10
Device manager version: 15.0 (QT4)

Hello, I am fairly new to the Linux operating system and I just switched my old home computer over to Lubuntu. I'm still compiling all the necessary software and drivers to make everything work. I´m stuck on the printer now. So let me explain what is happening.

So everything I seem to print comes out way too small and its printed landscape and not portrait. It prints everything in the top right corner and entirely too small. The text that I print out from abiword v.3.0.0 could be set at 12pt font and it prints out in what looks like 3-6pt font. A picture that I print straight off of chromium could be 500x500 pixels and it will print the image to what seems like 1/4 of the size, also the left side of the picture will be slightly gone. I'm going to download Libre Office and see if that changes anything but I do not think that will change anything.

Any other info you need just ask, seeing as I´m still new to all of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ahead of time.

are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:

As a new user, one wonders why you are using such an ancient
and unsupported version of Ubuntu. at the very least use
18.04 if you expect to receive useful support.

I'm using 18.04 and I've attached info.  I tried to eliminate the
other bug report but it didn't work out LOL

Hello Ron,

TBH, from your hp-check I cannot spot anything incorrectly set up. To be sure, it would not be a bad idea to set up a print queue for the F340 in another way and test. Issue this command from a terminal:

lpadmin -p f340 -v hp:/usb/Deskjet_F300_series?serial=CN662FG1YB04KH -E -m drv:///hpcups.drv/hp_deskjet_f300_series.ppd

That is all on one line.

Now print with

lp -d f300 /etc/nsswitch.conf

That should give a single portrait page. I cannot account for what you are getting with abiword, unless it is the application or the way you are using it.

My printer is a LaserJet P1006. I've had it since 2012 and has
worked just fine; however, hp has taken control of printing, so much for
open source.

I took the trouble to read though your 'hp-check -t' output
in your first post here. Perhaps you can do the same.

I am not prepared to continue with any more debugging.

Thank you for your time.  I going to uninstall and reinstall - reminds
