Bug Description
Model: HP LaserJet M607
We had a problem in the past where randomly some print jobs went on hold and we had to resume them manually.
After a bit of digging I found out, that this probably has to do with the SNMP communication that takes place between hplip and the printer. Sometimes hplip retries the request with the community string "public.1" instead of the original "public" (see io/hpmud/pml.c line 440), when the first request times out after 1 second.
As a workaround, I enabled the "public.1" string in the printer settings and since then we never had the problem again.
But I don't think this is intentional behavior, as the printer is in the same LAN, it should not be too slow with the answers. Also the "public.1" string is for old HP printers as a comment in the file mentions.
I don't know how fix this problem, but maybe increasing the timeout time would be a solution?
