Ubuntu 18.04 supplied HPLIP 3.17.10 doesn't work with Laserjet M1120n MFP and Color Laserjet Pro MFP M1777fw

LaserJet M1120n MFP &
Color LaserJet Pro MFP M1777fw

After adding these printers they don't work. I hear a 'click' when a job is sent.

Scan does not work either (I never use fax).

Both these printers have worked with previous Ubuntu versions (16.04 back) and versions of hplip.

I tried hp-setup and they work now with 17.10

I'm surprised the 'Add printer' function obviously does not work properly.

But they won't work with hplip-3.18.9.run or hplip-3.18.10.run.

Is there any benefit in pursuing a more recent hplip version?

You can try 3.18.6. It looks like libImageProcessor.so introduced with 3.18.7 is incompatible with printers that require the closed-source plugin package.
