You have obviously put some effort into this and I can understand your frustration. However, I am very reluctant to believe a 500+km drive would destroy a printer which was tested before the journey (it was, wasn't it?).

Nothing showing up in the lsusb command is the real problem. Beyond looking at BIOS settings and playing with them or updating your system I have no further suggestions. In the end, I can understand why you would see the printer as broken.
