Bug Description

I'm using net-print/hplip-3.17.10-r1 on Gentoo Linux. When installing it the package manager produces the following warning message:

> This package has a configure.in file which has long been deprecated. Please
> update it to use configure.ac instead as newer versions of autotools will die
> when it finds this file. See https://bugs.gentoo.org/426262 for details.

Hi Francesco,

This report is not actually a bug it seems.
We can ignore the warning message over here, as discussed in the below link.

I also do not consider this a bug. Although configure.ac is preferred configure.in is not deprecated. It is still mentioned as a valid name in the documentation [1] [2].

However eventually the developers of autoconf may consider dropping support for configure.in files completely. Being proactive in this regard will not hurt. Also renaming the file shouldn't be a big deal either.
