Hi Fred,
Can you give more details on this query?
1. 17.01 is the distro version where you are testing this scenario?
2. Please specify the distro name and version you are checking this scenario.
3. What is the error you are getting for this scenario?
4. Please upload the error.log file
I upgraded to 17.10 and printer is not recognized. When I put the the driver 3.17.11 in the terminal, it loads, but doesn't go to the Y/N. Which it does on the 17.04 version, then loads the rest and works. Can't send you what loads in terminal, reinstalled 7.04. Which still has the problem with the desktop not work properly. I have 14.01 on a USB, but the BIOS don't work. I have the 17.04 on a CD which works. Tried to get 14.01 on a CD won't work.I have emailed HP numerous times since September 3rd, when Hp was suppose to get back to me. Thanks ahead.
Hi Fred,
It would be helpful if you can upload the error.log file and the error details you see in the terminal for further analysis as we are not able to reproduce this issue in lab.
Thanks,
Nishitha
There is no error file. The driver for the printer loads some as it does in 17.04, but receive no Y/N at the end to finish loading. If I up date to 17.10 and it doesn't work I have to reload 17.04 by formatting my computer, I lose all my internet links. I will suffer with the desktop not working and the blinking screen for now. If the manufactures would fix the BIOS I could put in an earlier version of Linux. Thank you.

We are not able reproduce the issue in our lab. Can you please attach the below logs for further analysis.
1)output of hp-check -r
2)cups log
path : /var/log/cups/error_log
To enable cups log, go to /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and change loglevel from warn to debug2 in cupsd.conf file and then restart the cups using the command: sudo service cups restart
I removed the update, because I need the printer. So, I can't do what you ask. If the update doesn't work I'll have to remove the update and reinstall 17.01. More then a days work. Can't use USB to install Linux, doesn't see the port. I purchased a 14.01 USB, but HP is one of the computers that need to update the BIOS.Have 17.01 on CD, which works. Tried to copy USB to CD can't get it to do it.Should have "where to download too" when downloading Linux.
Really believe Microsoft is the problem when it's installed won't let you change OS.
When I get around to trying upgrade again I will let you know. Thanks for all your help.
