Bug Description

My Samsung printer broke and i bought a HP one. In hope to plug and play. Didn't work out well :(
Hopefully i do not have to throw the printer to trash (i will if this is what's HP's "Professional" like)

System: Arch Linux
HPLIP Version: 3.17.11

Error Description:
The Printer does not work. Never got a page out of it.
journalctl -xe shows following errors when adding and trying to print a page:

io/hpmud/jd.c 631: timeout write_channel hp:/net/HP_LaserJet_Pro_MFP_M26nw?ip=192.168.42.114

Setting up and recognizing works though.

Sometimes also this lines appear in journal:

io/hpmud/hpmud.c 246: invalid channel_open state, current io_mode=raw/uni service=HP-MESSAGE hp:/net/HP_LaserJet_Pro_MFP_M26nw?ip=192.168.42.114
io/hpmud/hpmud.c 702: invalid channel_close state

What i tried:
- Different PCs and Network settings (all Arch-Linux)
- Different HPLIP versions (e.g. 3.17.6, 3.17.10)
- Removing and re-adding and re-booting printer and PC serveral times
- WIFI and Wired connection

I add hp-doctor output.

Set up this queue:

lpadmin -p m26 -v socket://192.168.42.114 -E -m drv:///hpcups.drv/hp-laserjet_pro_mfp_m26nw.ppd

Print to it with:

lp -d m26 /etc/nsswitch

Check /var/lib/hp/hplip.state for an installed plugin of the correct version.

hp-plugin
=> re-installed the plugin just to be sure

sudo lpadmin -p m26 -v socket://192.168.42.114 -E -m drv:///hp/hpcups.drv/hp-laserjet_pro_mfp_m26nw.ppd
=> Adds a new socket-type printer, i suppose same as via localhost:631
=> mw printer appears in cups webinterface after issuing the command

lp -d m26 /etc/nsswitch
=> There is no /etc/nsswitch on my system
echo "foobar" > printtest && lp -d m26 printtest
=> Job pending, "Connected to printer." (same as testpage)

Cancel job and re-issue job
=> Printer says "Printing job"
=> nothing

Restart Printer, Restart computer, Re-issue job
=> Printer prints

Testpage
=> Printer prints

Thank you.
I try to reproduce on my second machine

Following Process works totally:

Via CUPS webinterface at localhost:631
Add a printer
Choose JetDirect
Apply socket://the.ip.of.theprinter

Choose PPD file

Save.
Issue a testpage.

Now at least restart printer & cups and/or reboot computer.

Eventually cancel testpage and re-issue testpage.
