Bug Description

I had this problem when installing a new HP MFP 132NW printer on Ubuntu 16.04. I had manually installed hplip version 3.16.3 on my system earlier.

I searched on the net and found that I need an hplip upgrade to install the printer drivers for the above printer.

I downloaded in succession hplip 3.16.7 and 3.16.11 and ran the .run files. Installation used to detect that hplip 3.16.3 is installed on the system and ask me if I want to proceed by removing and installing (i) or quit (q)?

I answered "i". It would display the message "Starting Uninstallation" and get stuck forever on this message until I aborted by pressing Control-C.

I manually deleted all hplip 3.16.3 files from various directories and then the installation worked to install the correct drivers.

Incidentally, I installed hplip 3.6.11 on another notebook where **hplip had been installed by the Ubuntu Installer during OS install**. Here the hplip installer did *not* hang on "Starting Uninstallation".

This means that hplip installation works where an earlier version of hplip has been installed through the package management system but does not work when the earlier version is installed manually by the user by downloading the driver files from the internet
