hplip-3.16.10: python exception when trying to scan from hp-toolbox

Bug Description

1 Open hp-toolbox
2 Right-click on Printer Icon (in my case: "HP Envy 5530 Series") -> "Scan..."

=> nothing happens, except hourglass spinning

hp-toolbox --debug shows:

I haven't been able to reproduce this with the latest hplip version. The type inconsistency seems to be solved.
