Bug Description

Thanks in advance, for any help you can give.

##### Linux distribution and version: Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit, fully updated

##### Printer make and model: HP LaserJet Professional P1102w

##### Output from hp-check -t:

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the
proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP
supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time
dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

##### Explanation of the problem:

When I try to install this printer using the HPLIP driver, I get the following error from system-config-printer:

**** Incorrect IEEE 1284 Device ID: [u'drv:///hpcups.drv/hp-laserjet_professional_p_1102w.ppd']
**** Actual ID is MFG:Hewlett-Packard;MDL:HP LaserJet Professional P 1102w;
**** Please report a bug against the HPLIP component

When printing a test page, the printer's state goes through the processing states and ends at "Idle - ready to print", but the print job has a "Stopped" status in the queue, and it never prints.

##### Steps to reproduce:

1. Run system-config-printer either on the command line or via the System Settings - Printers menu. The above errors are only visible if the program is run on the command line. If there are any previous printer configuration attempts, delete them.
2. It says "There are no printers configured yet." Click the Add button.
3. In the New Printer window that opens, in the Devices menu, select HP LaserJet Professional P 1102w. In the Connection menu, select HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP). Click the Forward button. The program searches for, and installs, a printer driver.
4. In the Describe Printer window that opens, leave the field values as-is. Click the Apply button.
5. In the "Would you like to print a test page?" window that opens, click the "Print Test page" button. Click OK to the job submission window that opens.
6. The Printer Properties window opens, showing settings fields, including Printer State. Click OK to close it.
7. In the Printers window, right click the newly installed printer, select View Print Queue. In the Document Print Status window that opens, notice that the job is Stopped.

I also tried the following things:

# Running hp-doctor. No change.

# Selecting a USB connection, instead of HPLIP. The print job stops with this error: "HP Device requires a proprietary binary Plug-in, run hp-plugin". I ran that program, and it said it finished successfully. Using that same printer configuration, if I cancel the stopped job and create a new job, it also stops with the same "run hp-plugin" error. If I delete that printer configuration and create a new one, selecting a USB connection again, the print job stops with that same error.

# This printer worked a few days ago on Lubuntu 14.04 32-bit using the foomatic driver from http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/. I tried installing it on this computer. The Printer State field stops at "Processing - Waiting for printer to become available.", and a job never shows up in the queue. The printer is turned on and plugged in via USB. Nothing obvious has changed about the printer's physical condition/setup since the last time it was working.

Hi Jonathan,

Can you try installing the latest hplip-3.15.11 drivers. You can download the auto installer package 'hplip-3.15.11.run' from here http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html.

Run command 'sh hplip-3.15.11.run' in terminal to install the driver.

Use command 'hp-setup' to configure the print queue.

Let us know if the issue remains same.

Thanks
Goutam
