Bug Description
The hpps filter has no error handling around os.write() calls. This means a broken pipe will cause a traceback, which gets caught by the system crash handler if one is running, etc.
It would be much better for it to catch errors and exit with one of the exit codes defined by the CUPS Filter interface.
