Bug Description

running Fedora 21 4.0.8-200 with hplip-3.15.7

executing either hp-plugin or hp-setup, when plugin is downloaded, program bombs because "file is corrupted" (bad checksum).

color printer, which requires no plugin, was installed and is operating correctly. hp-doctor and hp-check found it and detected no problems. They did not detect the black and white HP LJ M1212nf.

Any way to fix this?

Sourceforge site is down (http://sourceforge.net/blog/sourceforge-infrastructure-and-service-restoration/) and unfortunately hp-plugin utility is not able to fetch the plugin.conf from sorceforge site.
Can you directly download the plugin files from here:
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.7-plugin.run
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.7-plugin.run.asc

To install the plugin file you can run command 'sh hplip-3.15.7-plugin.run' in terminal or you can run command 'hp-plugin' in terminal and choose the second option to manually select the hplip-3.15.7-plugin.run file and install.

Run command 'hp-setup' to configure the print queue.

Thanks

Martin

Right click on the link and choose "Save Link As.." as option to download
the file.

Thanks for the link. It worked like a charm. I will remember this for
the future, in case it ever happens again.

Not as root, you run the script. When it is done (installed 38 files),
you run hp-setup as usual, and it will no longer pause to have to
install the plugin; it skips that step because it is already available.
You just get to the page where you are doing to name the printer and add
it to the system. Couldn't be much easier.

Good point. It is a script. But you need to change the permissions on
it to make it executable: chmod 555 is what I use.
