Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run)
to determine if the proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an
already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both
compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

I have an HP LaserJet 3050 & am having exactly the same scanner failure with 3.14.10 on both my Slackware AND Fedora partitions. HPLIP 3.13.8 DOES, however, work just fine! scanimage -L always correctly identifies my AIO device and printing is just fine. So just what did HP change in the last year or so to break a perfectly running piece of code?

Here is output from the command

I have an LaserJet 3320 with the same problem. Scanning and printing works fine until a upgrade (i don't know the version number or date, because i didn't scan right after the upgrade).
I tried everything, even i try it on another computer with other distribution. No luck. Scanning is only working on an old virtual machine of opensuse with hplip 3.12.11. All current version are not working:

scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/HP_LaserJet_3300_3310_3320?serial=00SGM35C0WWM failed: Invalid argument
Same error on xsane.

And i noticed that printing takes often endless. For one page it takes 5 minutes or more to finally start printing.

So please, whatever has been broken in the newer versions, reverse it.
