Bug Description

Using fedora 19 using hp 3.13.7-1 tools.
My officejet g95 usb connected printer/scanner is not usable anymore.
Printing alwasy end with 'filter failed' error.
xsane always fails with hpaio:usb/...officejet... invalid argument.

A photosmart C4270 works fine with xsane (printing cannot be tested as no cartridges).

The strange thing is that a couple of days ago printing still worked.
My upgrade history for hp tools is:

Some extra info:

The problem occured while running with fedora kernel-3.10.5-201.fc19.x86_64.rpm
After going back to kernel-3.9.9-302.fc19.x86_64.rpm printing and scanning worked fine again.

Still strange why scanning with the photosmart still worked wit the 3.10 kernel!

Hi Marcel,

Can you please try downloading and installing hplip from "hplip-3.13.8.run" file. You can download it same from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html and install it by running command "sh hplip-3.13.8.run" in terminal.

After installing hplip, delete the existing print queue in "system-config-printer" and re configure your device from "hp-setup" command.

Please let me know if your are still facing same issue on latest hplip-3.13.8.

Thanks,
Goutam

Hi Goutam,
I actually tried with the 3.18.8.run after I got the problem to see if that would help. Unfortunately it did not.
Going back to the 3.9 linux kernel 'solved' my problem.

I just upgraded to the 3.10.9-200.fc19.x86_64 kernel a couple of minutes ago. The current hplip version still is 3.18.8.
I did a few test and pinting and scanning seems to work fine now.

So it could have been a kernel related issue (still strange as a photosmart printer had no issues).

I'll keep running with this setup and will report back in a few days or a week or so....

Thanks,

-Marcel
