Bug Description

I have an HP Laserjet P1102 printer and run Debian testing. Since the upgrade to 3.13.4-1+b1, the printer has stopped working. Printing appears to work normally from applications or the CUPS web page, the printer power light blinks once but nothing is printed. There is no error message in any of the logs. On the CUPS web page, the job status is "Filter failed".
If I downgrade to the stable version of hplip (3.12.6-3.1) using the command:
apt-get install hplip/stable libhpmud0/stable libsnmp15/stable libsane-hpaio/stable hplip-data/stable printer-driver-hpcups/stable
the printer works correctly, without any other change to configuration.

The following is the output of hp-check -t, run as root with the stable version of hplip installed. Note that it reports that the proprietary plugin is not installed, but this is incorrect: it is installed and works correctly.

root@begonia:/var/log# hp-check -t

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies are installed to
successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper
dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

Hi,

I can see few errors in the log. To fix all of them please follow below steps.
=> Download and install the latest HPLIP release from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html (automatic installer) or
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/index.html (manual installation, if automatic installer does not work)

=> Reconfigure print queue with the commands in the terminal as mentioned below.
       => system-config-printer (remove all print queues)
      => su -c "hp-plugin"
             or
      => sudo hp-plugin (This will download right plugin)
       => hp-setup (It should not be run in a root mode. This command is adding print queue, make sure you select ppd name having "-ps" or "hpcups" substring)
=>Try printing now.
