Bug Description

Very similar to this bug: Bug #1069898

On Kubuntu 12.10, and linux Mint 14 cinnamon desktop, cannot scan with Officejet 6500, either from the repos, from the latest download (3.12.11) or using the patched libsane-hpaio from the above referenced bug. Using it networked, but same result if via USB.

I have also copied /usr/lib64 to /usr/lib. There is no longer a /usr/lib64/sane/, but there is a /usr/lib/x64_64-linux-gnu/sane which I have also copied over.

hp-check returns no errors (see attachment)

hp-scan gives:

Using device hpaio:/net/Officejet_6500_E709a?zc=HPC68655
Opening connection to device...
error: SANE: Invalid argument (code=4)

I also get this error running hp-toolbox:

/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py:127: RuntimeWarning: PyOS_InputHook is not available for interactive use of PyGTK
  set_interactive(1)
