Bug Description
Using Debian Sid/unstable with hplip 3.12.6-3 and xsane 0.998-3+b1, since a month trying to scan a page with the HP Photosmart 2610 connected over ethernet fails.
Here are some observations.
1. Normally scanning several documents works fine. But then starting with some document, hitting Scan the scanner initializes and the light bulb move for like a second and then just stops. The LEDs on the Photosmart 2610 are blinking and scanning is still shown on the display. After like half a minute Xsane reports an I/O error. The device’s LEDs are still blinking. Pushing the device’s abort button does not help. Only pressing the power button the device turns off after one or two minutes.
2. Turning the device on again, scanning a *preview* always works, but doing the “real” scan fails in the same way as in 1.
3. Using Simple Scan and `scanimage --test` I never had a problem.
I am still reporting this against HPLIP, as neither Xsane nor sane-backends have changed lately.
Instructions on how to debug this issue would be very much appreciated.
Can you please download and install latest hplip-3.12.10 from hplip.net and try scanning?
