Bug Description

A Navigation Tree positioned on the left and everything else happens on the right.

That way you only have one window open and it becomes really easy to tab through everything because there is nothing popping up, you don't need to drag anything anywhere, just a clean happy interface.

Brilliant program otherwise!

Using Fedora 14 - Homebank 4.4

I must admit, this is something that appeals to me, but I'm quite happy to
carry on using it as it is as well

I'm glad it appeals to you. Personally I think that has been a missing feature of GnuCash (besides the fact that it is butt ugly).

HomeBank doesn't suffer from the ugly issue though, just the navigation tree issue. I really like the icons too.

I think it is a nice idea. The issue with multiple windows makes using Homebank for me a bit difficult on a one-monitor system. I would also recommend that the possibility to open two windows is still being there.

In all honesty, I can't see this being implemented any time soon to be honest. I imagine that it would take a large rewrite to accomplish

+1

Even without a tree, a simple tabbed interface instead of a new floating window per account would be great indeed !

I think ore to do a single window ui with ability to open in a separate window on a double clic into the navigation tree. Like in quicken, or iBank.

This would be a great improvement of the user interface of the HomeBank. I very much support this idea :) Hope to see it soon.

Tabs (like in modern web browsers) and/or a navigation tree would indeed be really awesome! It would be a great improvement over the current multi-window approach.

I support this concept.

I do a zero based budget where I reconcile the previous budget to balance at the end of the month.

To do this, I need to have the budget entry screen and budget report screen open together. HomeBank doesn't allow for the budget entry screen to be snapped so it makes it difficult to do this process.

A refresh on the UI to help this would be great.

Selecting the account, or the budget on a navigation pane, then having the main content showing that account transactions (or budget info), then having a right pane showing details about the transactions selected is easy to work with, doesn't require manipulating many window, and allow to edit multiple transaction easily.
Having each pane be visible or not allow to focus if needed.

Added a Screenshot showing how it worked well all in one window.
