When I reconcile a transaction that is a transfer, it makes sense for me that the target transaction also becomes reconciled.
I tried editing an account, making it a transfer, mark it as reconciled and only then saving the modifications, and even in that case the target transaction is not created as reconciled.
I suggest this because I want to avoid having to duplicate the work of reconciling the same transaction at different accounts. My scenario is that I am validating my checking account and mark as reconciled transfers to other accounts for which I do not bother to get a bank statement, or that are not at banks, like:
- withdrawals - I don't want to go to my cash account and mark the withdrawal as reconciled, when I have already done so at my bank checking account
- deposits on long term/saving accounts - As bank statements only have once a year, or little more than that, transactions other than the deposits I make, I don't import them into HomeBank. I just manually add the costs and interest transactions. But I would like that the target transfer transactions from my checking account would be marked as reconciled.
This doesn't solve the issue for other transactions, like my credit card payments. I do have to individually mark as reconciled the checking account expense transaction and also the credit card account income transaction. Although the amount is the same, both the date and description and other fields have different values.
its was the case in the past, but was changed in 4.5.5 in 2014.
#1268026 internal xfer: do not copy the reconcile state
so far any reconcile process in similar software is per account, not cross account.
