Bug Description

Can the "Transfer" dialog box have a bit of redesign to show both accounts and dates for the and internal transfer transaction please?

The reason I ask is because while the new functionality for mismatched dates on internal transfers is very functional, it feels incomplete without showing the dates of both sides of the transfer in the transaction add/edit dialog.

When changing the date on a transaction, having to open a separate account windows to reflect the change in both is very cumbersome. Sometimes I even forget to do it when manipulating transactions because I forget that the dates can mismatch; there is no visual indicator that it can be done.

This happens a lot when I am forecasting my expenses and transactions, many of which are planned transfers to and from savings accounts.

So it is not only to show the target txn date?
But also to able edit it from both txn dialog ?

Note for me: Maybe I should consider also a checkbox to sync, ans as so if off any change will sync.

I think it makes sense to be able to view and edit both sides of the transfer.

Though there are two entries in the file, conceptually to the user they are strongly linked by being part of a single transaction; one side does not exist without the other side.

When reading this suggestion, I thought something like the attachment. Was this what you had in mind?
If yes, I am also interested.

I am pretty sure Maxime can think of something cleaner that can improve the transfer window. (A side, B side, removing redundant fields, etc.

I won't duplicate all widget. What i do think is use half windo size and align right the field of the target txn:
date
amount (in case != currency)
account

question:
as I implemented #2044601 wish: preference to always prompt for a target txn when adding xfer

in the scenario you:
- add a new xfer
- input a target date
- then pick an existing txn

what behavior for the input target date ?:
- it override the picked target txn
- we keep the initial date of the target

for edit, behavior is easy

If I had an existing txn that exists that I choose to link to, I would expect to keep the initial date of the target.

You're already indicating if the match percentage, so the user already has information that its not a perfect match when they select it as the transfer target. Plus with this change they will be able to change the date if they desire without going to the other account.

If you do choose to override the date in the target txn however, as a user I would want to be aware that this data is changing, so I would suggest a popup in that case, either to inform the user, if not confirm the action before doing it..so going to route of keeping the existing date is smoother and less work (for you, and the user since its less clicks).

Having a look at the #2044601 wish you mention in #5 above, I think the part of *this* wish request I'm interested in the results of are where one is editing an existing or posting a template/scheduled transaction entry. In this scenario, the 'change' only requires both dates to be shown along with the appropriate accounts. For existing transfer transactions, right now all remaining fields are the same (except amount which is -ve or +ve depending which account it applies to), so just showing these two extra fields (account already there, other date field not yet showing) seems to be the solution - with or without a "sync" tick box as in your mention in #1 above.

NB: for me, my transfer dates are the same for both sides, but I can understand that for some
they may wish to make them different.

Matching to find 'pairs' is, to me, a different discussion i.e. as is in #2044601.

To avoid any complexity I only did it for edition.
