wish: txn status display to button and/or add icon

Transaction editor window- 5.3-rc changed "Status" selector from buttons to drop-down menu:

Please reconsider this change. It now takes two clicks and a mouse movement down the menu to select an option. Before it was just a single click- simpler, easier and obvious. Add those extra movements up when reconciling an account, and it becomes a lot of extra movements.

I revert to a dropdown (like it was in a not so far past) with the addition of void status, as the radio was then too wide, so with the goal to gain some width.

What I may consider is to move again to a radio button but with icon and text as tooltip.

It's better for sure. It's a simple task and should be a one-click operation. A drop down isn't.

Just a thought: have you checked to see how often the VOID button is used? Maybe that could be shifted out, because it's voiding the entire transaction, not changing its status... Then you've got more button room.

BTW? the status change is also manageable from the register, no need to open every txn to do that.

My business and law degrees and my tax authorities say Void is a cancellation, not a status, but we probably have different accounting standards.

As for changing from the register- how? A right click gives no options, a double click open the transaction, and back to the drop-down.

It's not a big problem. Just looking at it from the user perspective. Please continue your good work!

Maxime, I can't see a problem with the text being shown for each button with the form width being increased and if too small change to the icons? (I prefer the text buttons)

about void: there is the real world (of finance) with it standard and complexity and the implementation in software, which may aggregate things.
remind and void are different state of a txn, so I choose to put it into the status.

mass change from register: you have clear and reconcile button in the bottom toolbar (until you have hidden it)

@Neil:
People will have different preference for sure. With previous 4 buttons was already too wide on some language, depending on the language the dialog was too wide, so let's keep the icon, which BTW have the advantage of being visual, already know (void is new) and don't require to read the text, text that still available as a tooltip.

Icons seem to be the best compromise for contained width and usability.

Loving some of the new features in the latest release of 5.3! Thanks so much Maxime for all your great work!

This is a minor wish - can we get the status icons displayed in the selection drop down? I think it would help with usability, and it looks natural in the drop down. I've attached a mock up of what I mean.
