Bug Description

Ubuntu MATE 19.10
Homebank 5.2.7
GTK 3.24.10

Yesterday I installed Ubuntu MATE 19.10 on a spare laptop and copied my data file from Ubuntu 18.04 to the new Homebank installation in Ubuntu MATE 19.10. Everything appeared to work correctly except that when viewing an account the icons that represent payment types were replaced by an icon that resembled the French flag.

When adding a transaction the payment type icon is also replaced by the French flag icon in the "Add transaction" dialog.

I also created a new data file but the problem remained.

Is this a bug with Ubuntu MATE or Homebank? Homebank displays these icons correctly in Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 19.10. I know that Ubuntu MATE 19.10 is still in development but I always try to help and find bugs before each Ubuntu version is released.

I've attached a screenshot that shows this problem with the "Add transaction" dialog.

this should be a problem with MATE.
homebank icons is not part of any standard set and there is no reason to display a flag, except if MATE has a bug for missing icons

under linux, it is located into /usr/share/homebank/* subfolders
icons for payment mode are into: /usr/share/homebank/icons/hicolor/16x16/status
- check you have the icons there in you spare laptop
- try to see which icon it is with gtk inspector

Thanks for your reply Maxime.

Today I've tested as follows:

1) Installed Homebank 5.2.2 in a live session of Ubuntu MATE 18.04.3 - all ok
2) Installed Homebank 5.2.2 in a live session of Ubuntu MATE 19.10 - all ok
3) Removed Homebank 5.2.7 and installed Homebank 5.2.2 on my full installation but the problem remained
4) I then upgraded to Homebank 5.2.7 but the problem remained

So I concluded that my laptop installation must be at fault.

I then noticed that some of the text on the main Homebank screen was fainter than it should be so I changed the theme. The text appeared correctly but the flag icon was still visible. As I didn't like the theme I changed to another theme and was surprised to see that the payment type icons then displayed correctly. I then went back to the previous theme, changed the icon set and Homebank's payment type icons display correctly again.

So whether the payment type icons display correctly depends on the which icon set is selected either manually or automatically when the theme is set.

I'll raise a bug against the Ubuntu MATE project on the basis that some themes ignore icons installed by applications such as Homebank.
