Bug Description

I am using Homebank 5.2.4 with Ubuntu 18.04, Xubuntu 18.04 and Fedora 29.

I normally use Homebank on Fedora 29 but I copy my data and backup files to my other computers which run Ubuntu and Xubuntu as an additional backup. I can confirm that bug 1821106 is fixed whenever Homebank is closed and restarted on the same computer.

This morning I copied the data and backup files to my Ubuntu and Xubuntu computers and opened Homebank. The Payee and Memo columns were reset to their minimum width which is not wide enough for some of my payees.

Maxime, I cannot reproduce the problem every time but it has happened often enough (and on all three computers) for me to report the problem to you. I'm surprised it happens at all as I thought that all window and column settings were not included in the data or backup files.

Do you also copy the '/home/<username>/.config/homebank/preference' file?
=> the column width is into this file, not into the hxb or bak files

No, I don't copy the preference file as the display size is not the same on all computers although it is the same on two of them.

I only copy the .xhb and .bak files which is why I am surprised I have seen the column size reverting to minimum on the Scheduled screen. I haven't seen this problem anywhere else in Homebank.

I'm still unable to reproduce the problem - it is very random but always when I first start Homebank after the data files have been copied from another computer..

Hi Maxime,

I'm definitely seeing a bug here but may be not as I initially reported it to you. I am seeing this problem less and less as time goes on. I am no longer using Fedora so I am only seeing this bug when using Ubuntu 18.04 and Xubuntu 18.04.

I now think that there is an *occasional* problem with column widths not being remembered from one session to the next but I cannot tell you how to reproduce the problem.

I've just transferred my Homebank data files from my Ubuntu PC to my Xubuntu PC and the column widths are as expected.

Very, very strange.
