Bug Description

HomeBank version: 5.1.6
OS: Windows 10 Pro

I have made a CSV file with categories but I can't import that one, it's only saying "unknown file".

The file is formated as in your example. Like this,

level;type;category name
1;-;Home
2; ;Rent
1;-;insurance
2; ;Home insurance
2; ;Car insurance
1;-;Communication
2; ;Mobile Phone
2; ;TV
2; ;Internet
1;+;Savings
2; ;Stocks

I have tried with and without the "labels" in the file.

I have åäö in some categories if that could spook things up.

Thanks.

Nah, as you see in my message above so have I tried with and without the "labels" aka header line without any luck.

I tried this simple one and it does not work.

1;-;Boende
2;-;Hyra/Avgift
2;-;Reperation
2;-;Drift

I also tried as your example on the web page.

1;-;Boende
2; ;Hyra/Avgift
2; ;Reperation
2; ;Drift

I have the same problem using the version and OS. I copied a single line out of the sample format and created a file with this one line in it:

1;-;Food

HB won't recognize it as a valid .csv file. CSV file was created with a text editor so it has no Excel artifacts in it.

Additional possibly relevant info.

I'm just testing the software and this was the first thing that I tried. I'm using the default untitled.xhb file which has no defined owner or other properties. I don't think it should matter, but after 30 years in IT I know better than to withhold any details! -Kev

I just tested under my windows 10, with different encoding (1252, 8859-1) and utf-8 that you should use.

And it do loads well.
Can you provide the original file you use, zipped, instead of copy/paste so that I will get the file into its original state.

I downloaded test-cat.csv and it still doesn't show up as valid. Notepad++ does indicate that it's UTF-8 as well as is the attached test file I've been using.

Also just realized that this is on my Win7 machine not my Win10 machine.

Here is a debug exe of HomeBank.
Can you place it into HomeBank usual forlder and try on your Win7.
Capture the console output to a text file and attach it ?

Thx
