I miss the reconciliation workflow feature I was used to from another major home financial tracking software package, would love to see this feature in HomeBank.
Suggested Workflow:
-Select account, choose Reconcile.
-Window opens with the remembered last statement date and balance for the account plus a list of any transactions entered since that date
-User enters any interest or fees showing on the latest/current account statement, plus the ending date and balance from that statement into provided data fields
-User clicks on transactions listed as they are validated against the statement, toggles "validated" status
-A "difference" amount is displayed for the delta between the (sum of the prior balance, validated transactions and entered interest and fees) and the current entered statement ending balance
-Transactions could be added, edited or deleted as required from the list as the user reviews their statement
-A properly reconciled account would have a "difference" amount of zero (0). When reached, user could click to close the reconciliation window, store the fee and interest entries as transactions and update the remembered "last statement date" and balance to the entered statement ending date and balance.
Thanks for your consideration.
BTW, I'm using HomeBank 4.4 on Linux Mint Debian Edition.
This is a great idea. The reconciliation would be much easier.
