Overly long heartbeat timeouts

Bug Description

During my test on a 32-bit Ubuntu 10.10 netbook, I experienced heartbeat timeouts of 30-60 seconds. This is overly long and should be shortened to a much lower value in order for the broken tunnel to be transparent to applications.

  Reduce heartbeat interval to 5 seconds.

  Previously heartbeats were triggered every 20 seconds which is too long.
