[feature-request] Automated error recovery

Bug Description

It may be useful to use the UserSettings#loadDefaults methods or something similar to "reset" Helioviewer if it encounters a critical error. By adding exception handling in error-prone functionality, a single method could be used to recover from any critical errors. The user should also be notified and given the opportunity to report the bug.
