This particular case seems to be fixed. Please update this bug if you find other instances of the same problem.
As of jeff-hek rev 793, the marker's position is sunearth-distance normalized and it's distance from the center of the solar disk is computed. If that distance is less than 961.07064 arc seconds, then differential rotation is applied. The event marker and event region may be dropped if the result of the differential rotation calculation returns NaN.
