Bug Description

With many hundreds of movies made a day, it should be possible to generate a "heat-map" that displays some information about which parts of the Sun are currently experiencing great interest. The heat map would have to take into account both the time and spatial location of events on the Sun and in the inner heliosphere. You can even imagine "trending" locations and times. The calculation of a popularity heat map would have to take into account the spatial location of the movies, and the time range they cover, and the time between the current time and the movie time range. A simple histogram of regions in a time window would be a good place to start the calculation. The heatmap would be provided as an overlay in helioviewer.org. This could form part of a more general class of tools that measure and reflect how users are using helioviewer.org.

Maybe another way to implement a "popularity map" is to use the movies that people share on Helioviewer.org and treat them as features and events. They would appear with the marker label "HV" and have a big square outline region. The pop up window would have the start and end times, and a link to the youtube movie and the HEK-stored movie.
