Bug Description
I'm assuming that the purpose of the Synchronization action is to "reset" all sequences to their beginning (especially for the case where the sequences are of different lengths). When running harmonySEQ in debug mode the following error message repeats several times after doing a Synchronization:
ERROR: ALSA sequencer interface returned an error code (-11) on snd_seq_
As a result, Synchronization takes a long time (many seconds), which makes the Synchronization feature useless.
The debug message appears to be from the code near the end of MidiDriver:
The problem happens on two different installations on the same machine (Arch Linux 64-bit and Ubuntu Studio 12.04 32-bit).
Do you have any idea what might be causing this and how I might work around it?
On a related note, what's the purpose of allowing harmonySEQ to be paused? I'd prefer a simple Start/Stop, with Start automatically doing the equivalent of Synchronization.
Thanks.
I noted this problem while sending MIDI to two instances of amSynth 1.4.2 (standalone). I've now tried with other synths and am no longer having the problem; it may be an issue with amSynth. If possible, I'd like to know what the error means in order to report a bug against amSynth.
I'm also interested in the reason for "pausing" harmonySEQ rather than stopping it.
Thanks again.
