Do we need our own IRC library?

Bug Description

We're currently using IRClib[1] (LGPL, so licensing isn't an issue) to do all the protocol stuff. It might be worth writing our own to optimise for Dalvik/Android. Then again, it might not. Either way, it's worth investigating.

Any known issues with IRClib that would cause problems on a low powered Android device?

IRClib is both overengineered and underpowered. Since we have to handle a bunch of stuff (such as numeric responses) ourselves anyway and we'll need to make some moderately intrusive changes to handle things like network transit switchover, it's worth reimplementing the bits that IRClib gives us.
