Messages and Home contain same content

The Home and Messages tabs both contain the same content. They also both need to be opened to get the unread message count be reset.

In my gwibber (3.4.0 in ubuntu 12.04) the messages screen doesn't display every tweet I receive, but I don't get the logic behind the selection

The logic behind it for twitter is as follows (not including replies or direct messages):
  The Home stream contains all tweets.
  The Images stream contains tweets with images attached to them
  The Links stream contains tweets with urls attached to them
  The Videos stream contains tweets with videos attached to them
  The Messages contains everything except images, links, videos
