Bug Description

Binary package hint: gwibber

Gwibber list is not "smooth scrolled" : it always scroll to the top of a renderer.

It is very disturbing for the user when the renderers (which have variable row height) have an important height (it is not 12px, but rather 150).

Please add smooth scrolling in gwibber :-)

Let's see what say gwibber developers about this issue, for now I have sent your requirement to upstream.

This makes scrolling to read messages in Gwibber very painful. I also see no way to navigate with the keyboard.

I've implemented smooth scrolling since I wanted this myself and is very easy to do, works fine in Gwibber 2.32.2 and trunk, but if I understand this tweet correctly: http://twitter.com/gwibber/status/1748239673982976 it looks like there's work going on to replace the HTML based views with GTK views, which would make the patch obsolete. Does it still make sense to post a patch or is this switch to GTK based messages going to come so soon that it doesn't make sense to add functionality to the current version of Gwibber?

I think it worths to share a patch, still no more news about the Gtk messages.

I think this is equally noticeable in the GTK version of gwibber (3.1.6). It is quite hard to visually follow the stream while scrolling with these discrete jumps. I think the human eye needs a hit as to how far/how fast an item moved. Smooth scrolling allows to scroll much faster, as one can follow the stream with the eyes and gets a feeling for distance and speed.

Gwibber 3.1.90 still has this bug... really distracting.

Still present in gwibber 3.2.0-0ubuntu2 in Oneiric. Besides this, just about everything with scrolling in Gwibber seems broken to me in various ways. I have just started using it today, and frankly I am horrified at how buggy it is.
