Bug Description

Binary package hint: gwibber

The twitter web site automatically converts www.* into a hyperlink as does many other clients.

For an example tweet with auto-hyperlink of a "www.*" address see:
http://twitter.com/tinybuddha/status/19850481188

Gwibber on the other hand only converts "http://*" addresses into hyperlinks automatically; it fails to do the same conversion for "www.*" addresses.

Please make Gwibber as good as the web site, thanks.

This bug is most definitely not a duplicate of bug 592283

bug 592283 is about the t.co URL shortener

This bug has absolutely nothing to do with the t.co URL shortener

Linking text that starts with www. is not really sufficient.

Admittedly, the web site doesn't hyperlink "yesontitle24.com" in this tweet:

http://twitter.com/mrommel/status/21445120554

but TweetDeck does hyperlink it.

I've narrowed the root of this bug down to the "linkify" function in gwibber/microblog/util/__init__.py

I'm having trouble editing it though, even if I completely delete the function, when I run gwibber again links still keep appearing.

I'm new to Gwibber's source code so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, even deleting the pyc file, I have to clear the entire contents of the init file before it even throws an error.
