[wishlist] preference to hide the !@# characters

Bug Description
Please add a pref checkbox to hide all those @, ! and #, it's unreadable. Underline is enough.
It may be possible to add the link type in the small balloon (during hover), but IMHO, it's not really that useful.

I think that this would confuse the user more, really. I guess it could be available, but off by default.
How could the differences between the types be denoted? Different color links?
