Option to deactive the hint function

I hate the hints function. How do I shut it off? Sometimes I want to study the board to set up a line of jewels that is more than three, and that dratted hint comes on. Or sometimes I'm just slow. I'd prefer to find the line myself, thanks.

I also find this intensely annoying. If you are going to address this then I would suggest that, instead of automatically generating a hint after a set time interval, you provide a hint button that we can use to request a hint if we want one.

Please could you add an option to disable the hint.
I also want to spend some time studying the board.
I don't want the game to tell me all the moves!

A button to get a hint would be much better, and perhaps it could reduce your score.

I would like to fix this.
I have got the code, and can compile it and have added a "Hints enabled" option to the preferences that just shuts the hints off.
Is this an acceptable fix for the problem?

I think a Hint button on the main screen would be cool, but this is my first stab at GTK coding so I would like to keep it simple. For me, I find the automatic hints annoying. I just want it off. :D

Daniele, could you let me know what the proper process for submitting a change for this?
Do I push a new branch with my changes?

I had a quick look and it is practically line for line identical to mine! :D

Good luck with getting it reviewed by the maintainer though. I haven't been able to get a response. :(
