Saving a recording often doesn't save

Everything about gtk-recordmydesktop works fine until I get to the "Save As" dialog, which seems to be very unreliable. Many times I've selected an output file name in a location and clicked Save, and found that it didn't save the file there. Today it happened again, and I tried multiple times to save the same recording, and nothing shows up in the folder. I then searched my home tree and found an "ogv" file written in the last minute in "$HOME/.local/share/Trash/files". I viewed that video and it did appear that it was the video I just recorded. I copied it out of there and moved on.

I've seen this happen on CentOS7.2, Ubuntu 14.04, and Ubuntu 15.10.
