Bug Description
The 'exceptions' module of Python 2 was deprecated, and then replaced in Python 3 with built-in exception types. The backend_rtm.py module fails to load because it still depends on this old module. A grep search reveals that this is the only file in the project that still uses the exceptions module in 0.3~r1356.
