I recently experienced an issue with both Totem and VLC crashing (both either when queuing up multiple videos in their respective interfaces or disabling subtitles), which seems to be a result of gstreamer.

I had this whilst navigating away from a folder containing video media. The video was in the process of being copied, so it's possible totem tried to thumbnail an incomplete video file.

The annoying part is that the error message keeps on popping up everytime I start my computer.

happens when copying, but i think it results from the thumbnail generation for which gstreamer needs to play the vid for just a second
