2013-10-27 21:31:42 David Turner description This only started happening after I upgraded to Saucy. Whenever I listen to mp3 tracks using Rhythmbox or Totem, there are some pretty noticeable artifacts when I listen to MP3 tracks (maybe it also affects all compressed formats, not sure). FLAC seems to be unaffected. The best way for me to describe these artifacts would be that they sound like a rattle whenever the volume is high enough. It is most obvious in classical style music with lots of strings, and brass and vocals. I listened to the same music in Audacity (which as far as I know uses something other than GStreamer) does not have this problem. This only started happening after I upgraded to Saucy. Update: I converted a file to different formats to see which are affected, here is what I got: FLAC - Unaffected WAV - Unaffected OGG - Unaffected MP3 (Variable) - Affected MP3 (Constant) - Affected So I think it may just be MP3 which is affected.

It is most noticable using headphones, but can also be heard pretty easily with speakers. https://bugs.launchpad.net/gst-opencv/+bug/1245281/+attachment/3893242/+files/TheRing.zip
