Bug Description

When themes have a box-shadow specified for the .menu class, the menu in wingpanel inherits this property and displays a box-shadow, which creates a ugly rectangle around the menu.

Right ! It was a theme issue, after deleting my local .themes and .icons
everything is fine.

It is not a theme issue. The PopOvers should render the inset box-shadow just inside the border, i.e. it should take the same shape as the PopOver, or ignore the box-shadow, like it does with the inner-stroke property.

This IS a theme issue - it is caused by themes not supporting elementary granite widgets.

No. It's not a theme issue. It's just the popup-menu widget in granite messing up it's own styles by inheriting styles from menu widget.

SInce the normal menus and popup menus look entirely different, they should have different class names. I don't expect the styles I apply for normal menus to be also applied to popup-menus.

Popup menus should have a default style to handle this issue if granite widgets are not supported
