Bug Description

My problem is that the newest Pidgin (2.5.4) cannot login to my MSN account for the first try. I must change my status to offline and online again for 2-3 times to make it work.
I have this problem since I have upgraded from 2.5.2.
Before compiling the new package, I have removed the libpurple and pidgin packages. "make install" set up everything correctly, there was no errors during the process.
I have tried the msn-pecan package, but the new pidgin doesn't show "WLM" in the protocol menu.

There is a line in the log that says there was an error with gnutls.
"(13:31:03) gnutls: Handshake failed. Error A TLS packet with unexpected length was received."
If I try to login again, gnutls handshakes correctly.

Some information of my system:

Ubuntu 8.10 x86
Gnome 2.24.1 (10/24/2008)
Kernel: 2.6.27-7-generic

This problem is not related to Pidgin, "finch" that uses libpurple produces the same problem.

Changed in pidgin:
status: New → Invalid
