Gnumed client crashes on attempting to connect to public server

Bug Description

On Intrepid 32-bit, running the gnumed client crashes on attempting to connect to the public gnumed server.

The connection never happens though an option to continue is offered.

The log file is attached.

- currently trying to reproduce
- seems to be a problem with the psycopg2 package in Intrepid
- test script for provoking the problem is in CVS

psycopg2 fails to deal with some settable time zones such as this one

workaround:
- set "client timezone" under [backend] in one of the config files
