Bug Description

I've created a "Simple macro" with the following text:
Testing quick macros

This is assigned to G1
I then open a text editor and press G1. The menu is opened(F1), and a few more keys are pressed leading to "q" which closes the menu, and this then this text is finally entered into the editor:
uick macros

I'm running Xubuntu 11.04

I also have this problem.
I affected G1 to command "thunderbird &" (without quotes) and each time I use G1 it also open help (as I was pressing on F1).

This is also available for other G Keys (Pressing Gx, launch macro if it exists, and also send Fx keystroke)

Confirmed on Funtoo with gnome15-0.8.3.
Occurs with Macros (using x) as well as with the keyboardkeys emulation using uinput.

Being as you are getting "F1" presses, it sounds like you are using the kernel driver. Have you tried using g15direct instead? There are reports of some success on other distributions here - http://www.gnome15.org/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=4&id=635&Itemid=7

I'm using the g15lib directly provided from gnome15.org and the ebuilds linked in the forum post above (i also tried out the ones from the github overlay). Useflags are:

cairo lg4l-module -ayatana -gnome -systray -title

In the g15-config it says "G15 Direct" under the "Driver" Tab, and the field is greyed out.

The printout on startup of g15-desktop-service is attached.

Could someone confirm what the behavior is when Gnome15 is not running at all. Do you get still get F1 (Help) for example when pressing G1.

If so, then something else is providing those events, and it would be *very* interesting to find out what it is.

Yes, the g keys activate the f keys when nothing is installed at all for the keyboard, had this before I installed gnome 15 and still after. I have a g15v2 keyboard.

Running with gentoo with the 3.8.13 kernel.
