Detect display resolution when launching journal

Bug Description

The Journal gui is too large on launch for some resolutions. I use a 1024x600 resolution on a netbook and can resize the Journal window to fit inside this resolution with no apparent ill effects. Should the Journal or any gui check the host resolution and resize itself accordingly?
