Bug Description

DVD writer works normaly except when using DVD-RAMs:

DVD-RAM mounts for user root and is only writeable as root
Files larger than 1GB block the writer, means medium cannot be unmounted/ read/ writen and a restart of the system is required.

the line from /etc/fstab:
/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom udf,iso9660 user,rw,noauto 0 0

ls -al from the needed files:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2006-11-09 12:08 /dev/cdrom -> hdc
brw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 22, 0 2006-11-09 12:07 /dev/hdc

If you need anything else please let me know, because it worked under dapper half a year ago and now it does not work under dapper and edgy.

Right now I have Gutsy Gibbon/Feisty Fawn running on the Asus M6N and RAM reading and writing works at normal file sizes. I have ot tried to write files bigger than 1GB where some others mentioned the same problem occured.

I am having similar issues on HARD HERON 8.04 BETA.

OS is on AMD64, installed via alternate install.

LSSCSI shows:
[3:0:0:0] cd/dvd Optiarc DVD RW AD-7190A 1.72 /dev/scd0

DVDRAM is brand new.

Inserted existing DVDRAM. Disk mounted automatically, but I have made some changed to udev 40-permissions. Tried to delete some stuff off the disk via Nautilus and have a message showing "File Operations: Moving Files to the Wastebasket". This has been showing now for 5 minutes. There is some activity on the disk. The progress bar is not moving.

Disk is locked - a second terminal screen and "ls /media/cdrom0" has locked the screen.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 alpha?

I also have the same issues with DVD-RAM:

Software specs
Hardy Heron 8.04
libudf0 installed (Says: This library is made to read and write UDF filesystems; those filesystems are mainly used on DVDs)

Hardware specs
Asus Crosshair
AMD 5600 X2
Kingston hyperx memory
EVGA GTS 8800
*Samsung SH-S182F DVD Drive*

I am able to write to my Panasonic DVD-RAMs product model LM-AF120LU5 without any problem in uindous, but for some reason Ubuntu doesn't support writing. It only mounts the FS and reads from it. If I <sudo nautilus /media/cdrom0> and try to delete some file inside, I get "Error removing file: Read-only file system". An attempt to write on returns: "The destination is read-only."

Isn't libudf0 meant to add write support?
