I couldn't agree more. I always say: "How can we ever solve bug number one if Ubuntu (or more general "Linux") can't even remember an image I placed on the clipboard two seconds ago?"

"Fortunately this works well in KDE."

Is this true? I know KDE includes Klipper (KDE-version of Glipper) by default. Glipper only supports text. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume KDE's copy and paste function also supports text only. So, if you're running Firefox and you copy a picture (for instance the launchpad logo on the top of this page), you close Firefox, start The GIMP and try to paste the logo from the clipboard the clipboard is empty.

I don't use KDE, so I don't know how it works exactly. I only know Klipper is included by default and I assume in KDE you're left with the same functionality as when running GNOME with Glipper installed. This still isn't a WORKING copy and paste function, but it's a HALF WORKING workaround.
